After drinking a couple of unsatisfactory bottles of wine, I decide to open a safer choice that I won’t be disappointed.    A F Gros is one of the producers that I never disappointed.  It is also quite easy to find in Hong Kong and not too expensive.  This is always a safe bet to me.

In Burgundy, there are a few producers with names of Gros.  If you would like to know more about how they are related to each others and their styles, please refer to this blog article.

This bottle of A F Gros Pommard has very rich, intense and complex aromas of floral, rose, red fruits, sweet spices, licorice and herbs.  Its concentration and intensity remained very good in palate with strong bitter cherry flavour.  Tannins are still quite strong but they are ripe and fine.  Stylistically, this is certainly not an elegant Burgundy but by no way rustic.  Comparing to a lot of Pommard, this is slightly lighter and I believe it can be enjoyed earlier than many Pommard.  Another bottle of A F Gros that I’m happy with.
