I have recommended the Burgundy producer of Geantet-Pansiot before, thinking a lot of its wines are offering good value for money.  With its 2008 Geantet-Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes on special in Watsons Wine Cellar at HK$348, it seems another good choice.

This bottle of 2008 Geantet-Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is produced from vine with an average age of over 60 years old.  The wine has really strong intensity of aromas and I can smell it from a distance of over a feet in a busy Chinese restaurant!  Red fruits, floral, earthy and dried herb.  Muscular and intense in palate with good concentration.  This is a wine with rustic style instead of elegant.  For the price of just about HK$300, this is really good even though the finish is a bit drying.  What is strange to me is that its producer Vincent Geantet thinks vintage 2008 is very similar to 1986 but without the problem of drying finish as 1986?!
