Italian has so many native white grape varieties.  After trying Arneis last time, I go on to try Garganega this time.  The most famous region in producing Garganega is Soave.  In Soave, legal regulation allows up to 30% of other grape varieties to be used.  Most commonly, Trebbiano, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco are used for blending with Garganega.

In Soave, three types of wine styles can be produced: dry white wine, sparkling spumante and Recioto de Soave.  Traditionally, most people would consider Recioto de Soave is of the highest quality.  Recioto de Soave is also granted with DOCG status which is considered to be the highest appellation in Italy.  Recioto de Soave is a dessert wine that is made by using semi-dried Garganega, similar to Amarone.  However, while Amarone is a dry wine, Recioto de Soave is sweet.  So far, I still haven’t tried a bottle of Recioto de Soave but I’m really looking forward for it.

For Soave that is produced in the historical region, it would be labelled as Soave Classico.  Soave dry white wine was known to be vary significantly in quality.  Those produced in the Classico region is usually considered to be better than standard Soave.  This bottle of 2008 Inama Soave Classico Vigneti di Foscarino is also produced from the historical region.  I’m really impressed with this bottle.

Inama is one of the best producers in Soave.  In addition to producing Soave Classico, Inama is also producing wines using Sauvignon Blanc.  The most famous one that received rave reviews is Vulcaia Fume and Buy suprax online it is aged in oak barrels, which is rather uncommon for Sauvignon Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed Blanc.  For Soave Classico, two wines are produced.  The basic Soave Classico has an annual production of around 250,000 bottles.  The Soave Classico Vigneti di Foscarino that I drank this time has an annual production of around 26,000 bottles.  It is produced by using vines of over 50 years old.  In addition, this is a single-vineyard wine with Foscarino as one of the best vineyards in Soave.  It is further aged in barrels to add complexity.

This bottle of wine has very good intensity of fresh herbs, ripe lemon, nutty and bee wax.  It is rather full in body in palate with a waxy feel.  Even though its acidity is not very high, it is balanced enough to make the wine a very good drink.  Great length and good complexity as well!

For a price of less than HK$200, this is really offering very good value for money!
