Pomerol and St-Emilion arguably produce the best Merlot dominated wine in the world. La Bienfaisance, a small property, produces wine with noted floral nose. Grand Pontet, another small property, is well-known for its generous yet elegant wine. Bellevue, used to be an underperfomer, is now in top form under the guidance of Stephane Derenoncourt. Le Gay, one of the magical 20 chateaux picked by Robert Parker, is rising rapidly in its fame. Certan de May, surrounded by Pomerol’s most famous name including Petrus, Le Pin and Vieux-Chateau-Certan, produces wine of classic Pomerol in style that is extremely stylist. Troplong Mondot, certainly one of the best producers in St-Emilion, produces wine combining power and depth with elegance.
