This is the first Bollinger R.D. champagne I tried for a recently disgorged champagne by Bollinger.  Releasing 1997 vintage champagne, esp. a recently disgorged one, from Bollinger is quite a surprise to me.  1997 is generally not considered as a good Champagne vintage.  Following an extremely severe winter is an extremely hot winter.  I really wonder if this bottle of Champagne is up to the standard to be released as R.D.

A recently disgorged is a Champagne that spent more time in bottle after the second fermentation before disgorgement.  While a vintage Bollinger generally spends about 6 years in bottles before disgorgement, a recently disgorged Champagne will generally spend 10 years in bottle before disgorgement.  In addition to this difference, R.D. Buy Diflucan Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed from Bollinger usually will have lower dosage than normal vintage Champagne which allow better expression of the vintage.

Immediately upon pouring shows a noticeable difference in colour.  This champagne is of much deeper colour than standard vintage champagne.  The nose also shown noticeable difference as it has more character of aged champagne.  In line with Bollinger style, this champagne has very strong autolytic flavour with other flavours such as brioche, minerality, nuts, honey and citrus.

In palate, it is much smoother than most recently released vintage champagne.  There is no hint of aggressiveness Buy levitra online possibly because of longer ageing.  This champagne has multi-dimensional and crisp acidity.  While it is showing some aged champagne character, it is balanced very well by its acidity.  If I have to criticize, this champagne is lacking outstanding complexity (even if it is actually not bad).  Maybe 1997 is really not an outstanding vintage to give a wine with outstanding complexity.

If you like aged champagne but is not willing to wait for a standard vintage champagne to age gradually, recently disgorged champagne maybe a style you want to try.
